Trans Clinician Training & Cultural Competency Audience: Health and Human Services Providers
Description: This workshop talks about the evolution of Transgender treatment diagnoses; including the original addition into DSM III, and evolution of World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), formerly known as the Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association’s, Standards of Care (SOC). We explore the validity and reliability of the diagnostic criteria and the trend to a caring sensitive treatment plan, including the trend to remove the pathological stigma of the treatment. Also we will discuss proposed important changes for the next revision of the DSM.
